Meeting

Coffe meetings

Coffe meetings give members of La P’tite Maison and citizens of Saint-Pierre the chance to meet, in a semi-formal context, stakeholders who works in organizations and institutions in their community.

These opportunities allow citizens to voice their concerns and find answers to their questions about topics such as neighborhood safety, tenant rights and responsibilities, low-cost food, and more.

Cooking and meals to share

Family BBQ

During the summer, a family BBQ is held in the courtyard of La P’tite Maison. This event is a great opportunity for our members to do a family activity and meet new people. From the start, this activity has been very successful!

Lunchbox

In order to reduce the cost of meals for children attending school, our members get together to collectively prepare all the lunch boxes for the kids! Thus, in addition to saving, our participants get together with parents and develop bonds.

So, for the modest sum of 5$, our participants leave home with three hot meals, two cold meals, as well as snacks!

Economic cuisine

During the economic cooking workshops, our facilitator shares her cooking knowledge (at low cost). She also gives advice on how to make good recipes at a low price. Our members come together to cook a meal with food from La P’tite Maison which are gifts or low-cost food. This is a good opportunity to share tips for saving more during your daily grocery shopping.

Meal to share

Once a week, the doors are open to residents of Saint-Pierre in order to share a good soup or spaghetti that has been prepared by our volunteers! It is a beautiful moment of meeting between the citizens of the district. We also take advantage of this happy gathering to discover the other activities offered at La P’tite Maison.

Family area

Animated tale

Once a month, a member of La P’tite Maison A member tells a story to the children, in addition to leading a craft activity that relates to the story told earlier. Thus, children, just like parents, have a good time with their family!

Walking group

International holidays

Big Christmas party

Hosted by employees, but entirely organized by our Christmas committee members, The big Christmas party is a major celebration which includes a dinner as well as a distribution of gifts (for the children) and food baskets (for the families) by Santa Claus.

With the generous collaboration of many volunteers, university students, employees of La P’tite Maison and several donators, more than 200 people were able to benefit from this great event. The big Christmas party brought together many families from the Saint-Pierre district and the surrounding area!

Thematic cooking

During international holidays, such as Halloween, Christmas or Valentine’s Day, our members organize group dinners to celebrate and share a good meal. This is a great opportunity to bond and break through isolation.

Neighborhood celebrations

During neighborhood events, such as The feast of peace, Snow festival and The neighboors’ Party, our members get involved by running various charity kiosks and helping to prepare for activities. Each party becomes a great opportunity to promote La P’tite Maison to citizens and to share a moment with the residents of Saint-Pierre!

Artistic creation

Bricolage

In order to put forward their creativity, our members offered to tinker with handcrafted material. Their creations are mainly used to decorate La P’tite Maison during special events but also to make advertising posters and beautify the walls of the thrift store. In short, hours of fun for adults and children alike!

Knitting

During this workshop, a member introduces participants to knitting and crochet. In addition to having a good time, our apprentice knitters leave with their creation, which will hopefully protect them from the cold in winter!
